Psalm 25:1-10

Psalm 25^[a]

Of David.

¹In you, Lord my God,
I put my trust.^(A)

²I trust in you;^(B)
    do not let me be put to shame,
    nor let my enemies triumph over me.
³No one who hopes in you
    will ever be put to shame,^(C)
but shame will come on those
    who are treacherous^(D) without cause.

⁴Show me your ways, Lord,
    teach me your paths.^(E)
⁵Guide me in your truth^(F) and teach me,
    for you are God my Savior,^(G)
    and my hope is in you^(H) all day long.
⁶Remember, Lord, your great mercy and love,^(I)
    for they are from of old.
⁷Do not remember the sins of my youth^(J)
    and my rebellious ways;^(K)
according to your love^(L) remember me,
    for you, Lord, are good.^(M)

⁸Good and upright^(N) is the Lord;
    therefore he instructs^(O) sinners in his ways.
⁹He guides^(P) the humble in what is right
    and teaches them^(Q) his way.
¹⁰All the ways of the Lord are loving and faithful^(R)
    toward those who keep the demands of his covenant.^(S)

Daniel 9:15-25

New International Version

¹⁵“Now, Lord our God, who brought your people out of Egypt with a mighty hand^(A) and who made for yourself a name^(B) that endures to this day, we have sinned, we have done wrong. ¹⁶Lord, in keeping with all your righteous acts,^(C) turn away^(D) your anger and your wrath^(E) from Jerusalem,^(F) your city, your holy hill.^(G) Our sins and the iniquities of our ancestors have made Jerusalem and your people an object of scorn^(H) to all those around us.

¹⁷“Now, our God, hear the prayers and petitions of your servant. For your sake, Lord, look with favor^(I) on your desolate sanctuary. ¹⁸Give ear,^(J) our God, and hear;^(K) open your eyes and see^(L) the desolation of the city that bears your Name.^(M) We do not make requests of you because we are righteous, but because of your great mercy.^(N) ¹⁹Lord, listen! Lord, forgive!^(O) Lord, hear and act! For your sake,^(P) my God, do not delay, because your city and your people bear your Name.”

The Seventy “Sevens”

²⁰While I was speaking and praying, confessing^(Q) my sin and the sin of my people Israel and making my request to the Lord my God for his holy hill^(R)— ²¹while I was still in prayer, Gabriel,^(S) the man I had seen in the earlier vision, came to me in swift flight about the time of the evening sacrifice.^(T) ²²He instructed me and said to me, “Daniel, I have now come to give you insight and understanding.^(U) ²³As soon as you began to pray,^(V) a word went out, which I have come to tell you, for you are highly esteemed.^(W) Therefore, consider the word and understand the vision:^(X)

²⁴“Seventy ‘sevens’^[a] are decreed for your people and your holy city^(Y) to finish^[b] transgression, to put an end to sin, to atone^(Z) for wickedness, to bring in everlasting righteousness,^(AA) to seal up vision and prophecy and to anoint the Most Holy Place.^[c]

²⁵“Know and understand this: From the time the word goes out to restore and rebuild^(AB) Jerusalem until the Anointed One,^[d]^(AC) the ruler,^(AD) comes, there will be seven ‘sevens,’ and sixty-two ‘sevens.’ It will be rebuilt with streets and a trench, but in times of trouble.^(AE)

4 In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who will judge the living and the dead,^(A) and in view of his appearing^(B) and his kingdom, I give you this charge:^(C) ²Preach^(D) the word;^(E) be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke^(F) and encourage^(G)—with great patience and careful instruction. ³For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine.^(H) Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear.^(I) ⁴They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths.^(J) ⁵But you, keep your head in all situations, endure hardship,^(K) do the work of an evangelist,^(L) discharge all the duties of your ministry.
